Far North District, New Zealand

A visit to New Zealand is not complete without a journey to the very top of the North Island – Cape Reinga (Te Rerenga Wairua).

Uncover the wild beauty of this vast and untouched region, rich in Māori culture and tradition, on a full-day return tour from Paihia or Kerikeri. Along the way you will visit the ancient Puketi Kauri Forest, where you can walk amongst 1,000 year old Kauri trees and native bush; our tour will pass by historic Maori pa’s sites and early European settlements before we begin our journey along the vast and empty Ninety Mile Beach. You will also have the opportunity to try sand-boarding down the massive sand dunes on boogie boards at Te Paki Stream before leaving the beach. From Ninety Mile Beach we continue on to Cape Reinga where according to Māori legend, the spirits depart from Aotearoa New Zealand on their journey back to the Maori ancestral homeland of Hawaiki. On arrival at Cape Reinga, you can stand on one of the northern most tips of New Zealand and watch the Pacific Ocean collide with the Tasman Sea.
